Good news for Polygraph Downunder:

For the first time in history a State Police Dept in Australia is going to try out a pilot study doing Pre Employment testing for Police Jobs in Australia.

And its starting in a few months with 20 examinees over 3 months. Our firm have been consulting with this Police Dept about Polygraph in general and how we could contribute.

Problems is none of us in our firm have ever done a 'real pre employment test.'(As Polygraph testing for Pre Employment testing is illegal in our state of New South Wales).
Could anyone email us typical RQ s and CQs used in the US Police Depts and any other advice (Technical and strategic) please?

This Police Dept is 2 states away.
This could be good news us as we could use this to lobby our State Senators to make Pre Employment testing legal in our state.

Is there any short course/tuition specialising in Pre Employment testing that we could come over and do in May?

Cheers

You can check the AAPP schedule to see if it has what you're looking for. I'll be standing in for Don Krapohl talking about, among other things, best practices for multiple-issue screening tests. It will be brief, but it's a start.

Thanks Barry and EVERYONE else who emailed me directly. We are on track now. Will surely be looking at seminars in the USA on the topic if our firm got the contract.

On a another topic: There is currently a case in court in our State of New South Wales involving the use of Polygraph.

Basically the examiner who was doing a media paid test, tested an examinee who the media paid $120,000 approx to take the poly and do the interview testifying that she had seen a certain high profile person associate herself with Narcs.
At first the examiner announced that she 'failed the test' then when the examinee hit the roof, and went in to have a private conversation with the examiner, she did a re test with the same examiner and 'passed the test.'
The examiner said that she initially failed 'because she had withheld some personal information from him.'
(The lawyers are unable to serve this examiner with a summons to supply his records in regard to the case todate, they say he is trying to avoid being served)

Anyway the person who the examinee made the statements about is now suing the TV station and all concerned.

If this all sounds bad so far it gets even worse:

The legal counsel of the person suing is now trying to make a case that the mere ownersip and use of a polygraph instrument by the TV station is illegal in NSW and that the TV station is infact guilty of a crime.

Now if these lawyers are successful our Investigation Firm will basically have to close down polygraph operations in our state which of course is no good for anyone in the polygraph industry.

This case will conclude its first stage in three weeks. If anyone is interested in following it email me and I can give you the links.

Cheers ya all.
